The Art of the Quick Sketch

Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced artist, quick sketching can be a valuable and productive exercise and sharpen one's ability to "see." This workshop will focus on how to capture the essence of your subject with economy and simplicity. Composition, values and selection of essential elements will be addressed, as well as experimenting with brush and pens. Demonstrations and individual instruction will be offered. Brush pens will be provided.
Materials Needed: Sketch pad or several sheets of drawing paper and a small plastic water container.
Optional materials: lightweight chair or camp stool, drawing pencils, charcoal, paper towels, tissues, sun hat and sunscreen.
Participants will meet at the Pavilion at Water Works Park at 1701 Highland Avenue, Tampa, 33602. This is adjacent to Ulele Restaurant where parking is available or there is free parking on the street adjacent to the park. Attendees may choose to have lunch and a quenching beverage at Ulele after the conclusion of the workshop.
