April Featured Artist Potter Kimberli Cummings

Kimberli B. Cummings began her love for pottery at Tampa's Clay Factory in 1991 originally, to heal from a broken marriage.  There she was able to study with many local and internationally recognized potters.  She learned RAKU (in Japanese means "to have fun") with Robert Piepenberg, make raw, organic forms with Paul Soldner and Peter Voulkos and paint fantastic creatures with colorful glazes by her beloved teacher, the late Rudy Autio (Archie Bray Foundation). Kimberli's love of color resonates throughout her full line of tableware, reflecting the time she studied with the Queen of Majolica, Linda Arbuckle.

These days, Kimberli spends most of her studio time creating custom pieces for her collectors. Kimberli represented Tampa on National television on HGTV's That's Clever! when she created her recognizable Tango Dancer vase.

After an extended acting career in both Tampa and Los Angeles, Kimberli resides as a potter in Tampa.  She is 1 of 15 Tampa Tour de Clay original members since 2006, member of Las Damas de Arte since 1990 and original member of Creative Exchange.

Recently she was awarded First Place for a beautifully painted majolica tureen featuring prancing roosters from Ybor City at Florida Craftart in the exhibition "Epicurean Delights".  Click on button at bottom of page to see the winning piece. The exhibition remains up until May 8 at Florida Craftart          (501 Central Ave, St. Petersburg).
